Firm Wall Riddim – Deano Deann Records

Deano Deann keeps this one lean and street-facing, leaning into a sharp dancehall pulse rather than piling on extras. Firm Wall Riddim came out on July 19, 2019 as a five-track EP, and the trim lineup leaves room for the voices to hit: Brasicka’s “Chop Chop” comes off tense and direct, while Hotfrass on “Dawgs Dem” rides the riddim with that grimy, toast-heavy energy that suits the production. Lybran’s “Man Great” adds a more swaggering edge, and Sicka Pure’s “Try” feels like the cut with the most bite. The instrumental at the end lets the pattern breathe and shows how much of the impact comes from the drum programming and the hard, percussive groove underneath.
