FATTY FATTY RIDDIM produced by STEELY & CLEVIE RECORDS 1993
Fatty Fatty Overview
STEELY and CLEVIE RECORDS is known for shaping the reggae and dancehall sound in the late 1980s and early 1990s. The label, founded by Wycliffe "Steely" Johnson and Cleveland "Clevie" Browne, produced some of the most influential riddims in Jamaican music. Their work with digital rhythms helped move reggae into a new era, and their productions are still heard today. In 1993, the label released the Fatty Fatty riddim, which became a favorite for reggae selectors and sound systems. Two standout artists on this riddim were Garnett Silk and Leroy Sibbles. Garnett Silk, famous for his hit "Hello Mama Africa," contributed the song "All The Woman I Need" to this project. His smooth, soulful voice brought a conscious feeling to the track. Leroy Sibbles, known as the former lead singer of The Heptones and for his bass playing on Studio One classics, recorded "Fatty Fatty." Sibbles’ deep roots in reggae history gave the riddim extra weight and respect among fans. The dub version of the release captured the spirit of 1993, when conscious lyrics and positive vibes were strong in reggae music. With STEELY and CLEVIE RECORDS behind the production, the Fatty Fatty riddim became a reliable choice for selectors wanting to energize the dance and keep roots reggae alive.
