Fat Dread Riddim – Superfly Studio

Fat Dread Riddim arrived through Superfly Studio in late August 2026, pairing Dreadsquad’s Marek Bogdański with UK producer Fat Frog, Mat Sterling. It is a short roots-and-dub set, but its three cuts make the format count: two vocal readings and a first dub pass that leaves the rhythm exposed.

The production moves with a steppers pulse rather than a strict one-drop, with drums from Butcher Jungle Drummer pushing against Bogdański’s bass, rhythm guitar, keys and percussion. Lead guitar from Iko Box adds another live element to a session recorded largely at Superfly Studio in Łódź. That personnel matters: this is not a vocal compilation placed over a stock backing, but a specifically assembled band riddim shared by the singers and then opened out in dub.

Marcus I uses “Ram Down” for a measured meditation on power, falsehood and the certainty that neither lasts. Ras Jahshua’s “Trouble” takes the more confrontational route, directing its anger at corrupt political rule. The contrast gives the riddim its purpose: the same insistent foundation carries reflection in one cut and accusation in the next.

“Fat Dread Riddim (Dub Pt. 1)” removes the vocal argument without breaking the momentum, drawing attention back to the drum-and-bass drive and the arrangement’s small instrumental details.
