Explain Riddim – Countree Hype

Countree Hype comes with a taut, brooding dancehall cut here, the kind of riddim that leaves plenty of space for sharp-flowing vocals and hard one-drop accents to do the talking. Explain Riddim lines up Shremkell and Countree Hype on the hook-heavy “Nah Explain, ” with Rytikal bringing a more aggressive edge on “Trouble Mekka, ” while Slyngaz pushes things into darker, more twitchy territory on “Psychopathic. ” Teebone’s “Cold Flow” gets a clean/raw pair of versions, and the project also throws in “Rifle” from Fresh King plus the all-star “Yeng Badness” combination with Intence, Iwaata, Wahs, Invasion, Naga, Voltige, Sadike and Chopoff. Released in June 2021, it sits right in that run of pandemic-era dancehall riddims where producers were packing a lot of voices onto lean, bass-forward frames without overcomplicating the formula.
