ELEMENT RIDDIM produced by 5TH ELEMENT RECORDS 2001
Element Overview
In 2001, some of dancehall’s most respected voices came together for a special project. The Element Riddim featured Beenie Man, Capleton, Chuck Fender, Danny English, and Determine. Each artist brought their own style to the tape. Beenie Man, known worldwide for his hit “Who Am I (Sim Simma),” delivered “What If.” Capleton, famous for his energetic stage shows and songs like “Jah Jah City,” gave fans “Put Dem Inna De Pit.” Chuck Fender, who later became well known for conscious tracks, contributed “Ain't No Stopping Us.” Danny English performed “Keep Diggin It,” while Determine added “Blaze It.” The Element Riddim was produced by 5TH ELEMENT RECORDS, a label known for supporting conscious artists in the early 2000s. The label played a big role in the careers of several reggae and dancehall singers, including Richie Spice, whose album “Spice in Your Life” was released under their banner. The riddim itself was built for the dancefloor, with a driving beat and catchy hooks. It became popular at late-night yard sessions and parties across Jamaica. Selectors and sound system crews still praise this tape for its energy and strong performances. Tracks like “Jam Jam” by K, “What Is The Purpose” by Jah Thunder, and “Mi Gal” by Mega Banton helped make the riddim a street favorite. Over twenty years later, the Element Riddim is still remembered as a classic from the early 2000s dancehall scene.
