Drop A Road Overview
In 2014, the Drop A Road Riddim compilation made its mark on the dancehall scene, coming out of Jamaica with a strong sound and real party spirit. The riddim was shaped by BASHMENTCREW MUSIC GROUP, a production team known for their energetic dancehall work and for helping new artists get heard. They have built a reputation for delivering tracks that light up dance floors and have seen their work played widely in dancehall circles. The compilation brought together standout artists, each putting their own stamp on the riddim. Andi delivered “Ites - Denpend On No Body,” showing a confident vocal style. Baby Vybz came through with “Loyal,” keeping the vibe smooth and catchy. Da Rude Bwoy’s “Shooter” added a raw edge that fans of the genre love. Kabasi’s “Hammer” kept the energy high, while King Swagah’s “Drop Ah Road” became a favorite for selectors, thanks to its infectious hook. King Swagah is also known for his work with Sharp Shooter on “Street Life,” a track that stands out for its streetwise lyrics. Other tracks like Rappa Dappa’s “Super Star,” Ras Baja B’s “She Want Me Pull Over,” and Smurphs’ “Don’t Touch It-” helped round out the project, each bringing something different to the mix. The sound system cut of the riddim captured the raw energy that dancehall fans look for, making the compilation a strong contender among the heavy bashment releases of 2014.
