Drag Code Overview

In 2019, the Drag Code Riddim sound system cut became a powerful force in dancehall. Its journey started in the studio with DJ KUNTEH RECORDS, a producer known for pushing dancehall into new spaces. DJ KUNTEH RECORDS, who founded the label of the same name, has worked with both rising acts and established names, helping to shape the sound of modern dancehall. The bashment arranger crafted the riddim’s driving energy, layering heavy bass and sharp snares. This foundation made it a favourite for selectors at sound clashes, where the cut kept speakers rumbling and crowds moving. Four artists gave the riddim its voice. Rayge delivered “Informer,” bringing a sharp, catchy flow that caught the attention of dancehall fans. Shane E, already known for his hit “Partner Draw,” added his signature style to “Drag Code.” Gangsta Bling, with his own version of “Drag Code,” brought a raw edge to the compilation. Tee Que’s “Want War” rounded out the lineup, adding a fierce energy that matched the riddim’s intensity. Each track flowed smoothly into the next, making the compilation easy to play from start to finish. DJs and sound systems quickly picked up the sound system cut, using it as a weapon at dances and clashes across Jamaica and beyond.
