Clean Up Riddim lines up a hefty 15-track dancehall set from Studio 91, and the roster has that early-2010s mix of newcomers and name value: Gappy Ranks, Flexxx, Lexx, Da Professor, Kibaki, and a couple of double-ups with clean and raw versions. The rhythm itself feels geared for the dance rather than the radio, with sharp drum programming, a taut bassline, and enough space for sly lyrics and party chatter to cut through. Da Professor’s “Da Weed Ya” and Flexxx’s “When Gal Come” do the most work here, especially with the edit/raw pairings showing how the riddim holds up in different cuts. It closes on Studio 91’s own “Clean Up Riddim, ” which leaves the whole project sounding like a producer-led session built for selectors as much as artists.
