Coming out of the 2008 reggae-riddim run, Button Riddim lands as a tight little eight-track set with Gyptian, Fanton Mojah, Jah Mason and Ninja Ford carrying most of the weight. Gyptian’s “She Dont Want To” sets the tone with that smooth, melodic edge, while Jah Mason and Blacka Pride keep the pressure up with more conscious gun-talk and rootsy warning songs, giving the riddim a nice push and pull. The cut list is lean, no wasted space, and Jr Menzy’s “Time For Me” and Kashu Man’s “No Gun Control” add a few extra angles without breaking the mood, right down to Ninja Ford’s “Mama Son” at the close.
