BORING RIDDIM produced by SCARE DEM MUZIC 1996
Boring Overview
In 1996, a new dancehall riddim was born in Kingston’s studios. The project started with SCARE DEM MUZIC, a production team known for their raw street sound and early work with popular dancehall acts. SCARE DEM MUZIC had already made a name with their own label and had a reputation for pushing bold, energetic riddims that selectors loved to spin. Working alongside the producer was the sound engineer, who crafted the mix to make sure every beat hit hard. The engineer’s skill brought out the heavy bass and sharp snares, giving the riddim its signature bounce. The team wanted to create something that would move crowds at every street dance. When it came time to voice the tracks, two of dancehall’s biggest names stepped in. Bounty Killer delivered “Brother Boring,” bringing his unmistakable voice and style. Just the year before, Bounty Killer had released his hit album “My Xperience,” which made waves internationally and cemented his status as a dancehall icon. Mad Cobra followed up with “Big Long John,” adding his own energy. Mad Cobra was already known for his chart-topping single “Flex,” which had reached the US Billboard Hot 100. As soon as the selector’s choice hit the streets, it became a staple at yard sessions. The riddim’s journey from the studio to the dance was complete, making it a cornerstone of 1996’s dancehall scene.
