Boom Riddim from Ill-Matic Records has that lean, speaker-rattling reggae swing that keeps the energy moving without crowding the vocals, and Marly B threads a few sharp voices through it with a light touch. I Marley’s “Babylon Nuh Getaway” and Night Hawk’s “Can’t Diss We” give the set its tough edge, while Italis’ “Chatty Chatty Mouth” leans into the same straight-talk pressure with a bit more bite. Marly B also folds in the instrumental and his own “Far Place, ” which helps frame the riddim’s shape rather than just leaving it as a backdrop. The project landed in 2019 and runs eleven cuts in about 26 minutes, so it feels like a compact yard set rather than a sprawling compilation, with enough room for the dubwise motion to settle in.
