Back in 2006, reggae riddims were sitting in a fertile pocket where roots warmth and Japanese scene energy could meet without sounding forced, and Believe It Riddim lands right in that moment. Platinum Sunset keeps the cut tight and melodic, with a live-band feel that lets King K’s title track sit near the centre while Akane’s “Tree Of Heart” and Sing J Roy’s “Good Time” add the kind of singable hooks that make a juggling worth playing through more than once. Guan Chai’s “Nemu Nemui” brings a softer, late-night mood into the mix, and the set is rounded out by a straight instrumental version from the producer itself.
