BANJO RIDDIM produced by STONE LOVE 2013
Banjo Overview
In 2013, a special roots riddim brought together some talented reggae artists. Anthony Cruz, known for his smooth voice and hits like “Mama’s Blessing,” lent his style to the song “Ina The Dance.” Kristopher, who has worked with several big names in reggae, added his uplifting message on “Give Love.” Jah Bouks, who reached the finals of the Jamaican talent show Magnum Kings and Queens, delivered heartfelt lyrics on “Mama.” Bobby Crystal, respected for his long career and soulful vocals, contributed “Friend For Me.” Ricky Ticky brought his unique sound to the track “System.” The riddim was produced by STONE LOVE, one of Jamaica’s most legendary sound systems and producers. Founded in 1972 by Winston “Wee Pow” Powell, STONE LOVE has played a major role in dancehall and reggae for decades. Their productions are known for quality and for supporting both new and established artists. Over the years, STONE LOVE has helped launch many careers and remains a respected name in reggae music. This roots riddim stood out in 2013 for its warm, dubby sound and positive themes. Each artist brought their own flavor, but together they shared messages of love, unity, and real-life struggles. The riddim echoed through sound system nights, reminding listeners of reggae’s power to connect people. Looking back, this project is a strong example of how reggae’s message continues. The music, the artists, and the producer all worked together to create something that still feels fresh and meaningful today.
