Banjo Riddim – Stone Love

Anthony Cruz’s “Ina The Dance” is the natural hook here, and it sets the tone for Stone Love’s Banjo Riddim with a bright, skanking bounce that still leaves room for the low end to bite. The whole five-song set keeps that loose, acoustic-leaning reggae feel, with Kristopher and Bobby Crystal leaning into straight love-song territory while Jah Bouks brings the more reflective “Mama” and Ricky Ticky cuts harder on “System. ” It’s a compact 2013 Stone Love package, the kind of release that sat nicely in a period when rootsy singjay reggae was still finding fresh ways to work in soundsystem energy without going too glossy.
