Bak Bench Overview
The Bak Bench Riddim, a dancehall collection, first made waves in Jamaica in 2008. This release quickly caught attention for its bold rhythms and strong voices, reflecting the spirit of that time. Several notable artists contributed to this project. Bunk I delivered the track "Wrong Ting," which became known among sound system selectors for its sharp lyrics. Eggy B's "Tek Off Yuh" added a high-energy vibe, fitting perfectly with the lively dancehall scene. First Lady's "Nah Own No Man" stood out as well; she was one of the few women on the riddim, known for her straightforward delivery and powerful message. G Wise dropped "Her Waisline," a track remembered for its catchy hook and playful theme. Ghetto Rych featured twice on this collection with "Jump Around" and "Yuh Nah Good." Ghetto Rych is widely recognized in Jamaica’s underground scene and has maintained a steady following over the years. Behind the scenes, the sound engineer made sure each vocal cut sat right on the riddim, keeping everything crisp for the dance. The producer behind it all was RASS FIRE RECORDS. This label is respected for its grassroots approach to production, often working directly with local artists and helping bring authentic dancehall sounds to wider audiences. The Bak Bench Riddim fits squarely into what fans call a sound system cut—designed to play loud at street dances and clubs.
