Attack Riddim – Sands Sound Systems Records

From the jump, Attack Riddim feels like a 2021 sound-system job rooted in the harder side of dancehall, with S and S Sound Systems steering the production and a lean seven-track spread that keeps the focus tight. The lineup moves between straight-chat performances and more playful turns, with Cerberus Tha DJ’s “Backshot, ” Z. Dimention’s “Wuk, ” and DJ Marris on “Bruk It Off” giving it most of its attitude, while the Dj Mackattack and Jamaica Slim pairing on “Bedroom Regulator” adds a little extra spark. Mr Keyz’s “Bend” is the one that lingers, riding the rhythm with the sort of sharp, clipped delivery that suits this kind of cut. The instrumental at the end leaves the riddim itself hanging in the air, but it’s the vocal cuts that carry the weight here, especially “Bend. ”
