ShaqStar is a Jamaican dancehall and reggae artist whose music
comes out of the realities of everyday life in St. Thomas and the
wider East Coast scene. Born Shaquille Williams and raised in
Seaforth, he has built his name on songs that balance hard-edged
street energy with a more reflective, personal tone. His work sits
comfortably in the 6ix camp’s raw, local sound, but his appeal also
comes from the way he writes from experience rather than image.
ShaqStar first began attracting attention through early recordings
and collaborations in the late 2010s, including an appearance on
the Fighta Jet Riddim with “Mxrda Dem” alongside Dayno. From there,
he developed a steady run of releases that helped define his
catalogue, with songs such as “Chopeline,” “Memories,” “Middle
Day,” and “Duppy Dollars” giving listeners a sense of his range.
His writing often leans into survival, loyalty, pressure, and the
emotional weight of community life, which has made his music
connect strongly with fans who hear their own experiences in his
lyrics.
He has also used music to speak directly to his community. “Rise
Up,” released in 2020, was framed as an uplifting message for the
youth of Seaforth, while “Tired” paid tribute to fallen members of

artist and an entrepreneur, serving as CEO of Challa Entertainment
while also being linked to 1Law Entertainment and LOS Publishing.
More recent collaborations such as “Another Level” with Rymey Gad
and “Better Days” suggest a continued focus on forward motion, with
his sound staying rooted in Jamaican dancehall while moving toward
a more polished, contemporary direction. ShaqStar’s catalogue
reflects an artist shaped by place, pressure, and persistence, and
