Appliance Riddim sits in that early-2000s wave of compact reggae projects where the whole thing is over fast, but the personality comes through in the voices. With just four cuts and five artists, it leans more like a tight showcase than a sprawling compilation, and the contrast between 3 Canal’s “Piti Pata” and Gotti and Squeaky’s “Tired” gives it most of its shape: the former feels sharper and more playful, while the latter has a more weary, grounded pull. Kekere’s “I Am Kekere” adds a nice self-assertive edge, and Spotrushaz close it out with “The Life, ” which keeps the set moving without overcomplicating anything. Released in 2004, it’s one of those small riddims that captures the era’s straightforward, no-frills approach to local reggae production.
