ANYTHING FOR YOU RIDDIM produced by BLACK SOLIDARITY 1996
Anything For You Overview
In the mid-1990s, dancehall music was the heartbeat of Jamaican parties, known as bashment events. Selectors, or DJs, played the latest tunes to keep crowds moving all night. In 1996, a new riddim called Anything For You gave selectors fresh energy for their sets. This riddim came from the well-known producer Black Solidarity, a label that helped shape dancehall’s sound from the 1980s and 1990s. Black Solidarity, led by Ossie Thomas, was respected for working with many top artists and for delivering music that always kept the dance floor busy. The mixing board king behind Black Solidarity made sure the riddim had a unique feel, blending traditional dancehall with new sounds. This made the riddim stand out and kept people coming back to hear it again and again. Two big names featured on this riddim are Ninjaman and Tristan Palmer, who teamed up for the track Ninjaman & Tristan Palmer — Judge Not. Ninjaman is famous for his sharp lyrics and stage presence, while Tristan Palmer is known for his smooth singing style. Triston Palmer also appears with his solo track Triston Palmer — Flesh & Blood. Palmer’s hit “Entertainment” in the early 1980s made him a staple in reggae and dancehall music. In 1996, the Anything For You riddim brought new life to bashment events, proving Black Solidarity’s lasting impact on dancehall culture.
