Antilles Riddim – Precision Productions

Antilles Riddim came out of Precision Productions in 2011 and was packaged for the 2012 Trinidad and Tobago Carnival run. Precision Productions is the San Fernando-based team led by Kasey Phillips, a name that sits firmly in the modern soca production lane and has become closely tied to polished, radio-ready carnival records. The riddim’s official line-up is Alternative Quartet on “One Family, ” Erphaan Alves on “In Your Eyes, ” Kerwin Du Bois on “Bacchanalist, ” Machel Montano on “Vibes Cyah Done, ” and Nadia Batson on “Shiver. ”

The groove has that bright, forward-driving soca snap Precision became known for: clean percussion, a buoyant bass line, and a melodic lift that keeps the energy high without crowding the singers. It feels made for road use, but it also leaves enough space for the vocals to carry the personality of each cut. Montano’s “Vibes Cyah Done” is the obvious engine piece, all celebratory momentum and crowd pull, while Kerwin Du Bois brings a sharper, more chant-friendly bacchanal record that fits his knack for writing big carnival hooks. Nadia Batson’s “Shiver” brings a smoother, more polished female counterweight, and Erphaan Alves adds a younger voice with a sweeter, romantic turn on “In Your Eyes. ” Alternative Quartet’s “One Family” gives the set its communal note, which helps balance the more party-heavy cuts.

It is the sort of riddim that works because the songs feel distinct without breaking the frame. Precision kept the production sleek, and the lineup gave it enough star power to travel beyond the season.
