AINT NO LOVE RIDDIM produced by TEAMS 2007
Aint No Love Overview
The Aint No Love Riddim first appeared in 2007, recorded in Jamaica during a time when roots reggae was seeing a fresh wave of conscious music. The riddim uses a classic one drop bassline, which was a big part of the roots sound that year. A group of respected artists voiced this riddim. Anthony Johnson, known for his hit “Gunshot” from the early 1980s, brings his song “Paradise” to the mix. Brookes delivers the title track “Aint No Love Riddim,” keeping the spirit of the rhythm alive. King David adds his voice with “Winner,” while Lloyd Brown, who is well known for his long career and albums like “Against the Grain,” sings “Can't Keep A Good Man Down.” Mike Brooks, remembered for “Darker Than Blue,” also features here with his own take on the riddim. The set is rounded out by Winston Holeness, who brings his version called “Aint No Love.” The music was arranged to highlight each singer’s style but keep the roots feeling strong. Producer TEAMS, active in the reggae scene since the early 2000s, is known for focusing on positive and conscious themes. TEAMS has worked with several established reggae artists and has a reputation for clean, uplifting productions. This release is a great example of the conscious reggae sound that was popular in 2007, and it still holds up for reggae fans today.
