Ahaxia Riddim – Rmc Records

Sparse but sharp. Ahaxia Riddim came out of RMC Records in 2003 with just five cuts, and that tight lineup keeps the focus on the personalities riding the rhythm rather than any filler. Capleton’s “Mi Food Rmx” and Sizzla’s “Destroy Dem Rmx” anchor the set with militant fire, while Elephant Man’s “Chizzle My Nizzle Rmx” pushes the energy in a more playful direction. Lord Kossity’s “Sexe Dans La Piscine Rmx” adds a French Caribbean edge, and the oddball curveball here is Reba McIntyre’s “The Christmas Song, ” which gives the project a jolt of seasonal crossover in the middle of straight dancehall business. It’s the Capleton and Sizzla pair that leaves the heaviest imprint, turning the riddim into a compact 2003 snapshot of who was moving hardest at the time.
