5TH ELEMENT RIDDIM produced by FAT EYES RECORDS 1999
5th Element Overview
In 1999, the yard beat was the heart of many street sessions in Jamaica. The 5th Element Riddim brought a fresh but classic sound that selectors loved to play at every bashment. This riddim was produced by FAT EYES RECORDS, a label known for working with big names in dancehall and reggae. FAT EYES RECORDS had already made a mark in the 1990s with popular releases and helped shape the sound of modern dancehall. On this yard session tape, only the top artists stepped up. Bounty Killer, already famous for his hit “Look” with Mya and known as a dancehall icon, brought his powerful style to “Whole Entourage.” Jigsy King, who made waves with “Gi Mi Di Weed,” delivered “Sey Dem A Badman,” showing his gritty voice and energy. Merciless, who clashed with Beenie Man at Sting 2000 and was known for his lyrical skills, dropped “Believe It Or Not,” making the crowd move. Scare Dem 2 Sugar Slick came in with “Girls Dem List,” adding his own flavor to the riddim. Selectors spun these tracks at every session, giving the yard beat a real street energy. The 5th Element Riddim kept the dance alive, blending classic vibes with the new sound of 1999. This tape was a must-have for any serious sound system that year.
