4evabayz Riddim – Rht

In 2016, when soca was leaning hard into terse, carnival-ready hook songs, RHT’s 4evabayz Riddim sat right in that lane with a compact set of cuts from Beez Stinga, Da Jigga, Jami Dread, Kurrency King and a few others. The lineup is rooted in everyday love-talk and party patter, but the production keeps it moving with a clean, mid-tempo pulse, a firm kick, and bright synth lines that leave plenty of room for the singers to lean into melody. Kurrency King’s “Spell On Me” gets an extra run in both raw and clean versions, which says a lot about how the riddim was being handled. It’s the kind of soca framework that works best on a slow build, with the bass line doing most of the talking and the vocals kept light, direct, and easy to chant back.
