Liquid Riddim produced by VP Records 2001/2025
Liquid Overview
It all started in a little Kingston studio, where the sound of 2001 dancehall was being shaped. Producers wanted something fresh to match the energy on the streets. That’s how the bashment rhythm got its start. The man at the mixing board was a true king—steady hands, sharp ears, always knowing just when to drop a bassline or bring up the snares. VP Records led production on this one. They’re a label known around the world, out of New York but deep-rooted in Jamaica since 1979. VP Records has released legendary albums like Sean Paul’s “Dutty Rock” and is famous for bringing reggae and dancehall into international charts. The bashment rhythm caught fire quick. For the vocals, only big names touched mic. Sean Paul & Ce'cile came in heavy with “Can You Do The Work.” Sean Paul would later blow up with hits like “Get Busy,” showing his star power even then. Lukie D gave us “Back Up Back Up”—his unique singing style standing out strong. Then Lexxus, with “You Bring It,” brought his playful lyrics, while Tanto Metro & Devonte dropped “Give It To Her,” showing their chemistry as a duo who also scored big before with tracks like "Everyone Falls In Love". Bling Dawg’s “Got It Goin’ On” added another layer of fire to the tape, riding that bashment beat with confidence.
