ON THE BEACH RIDDIM produced by TREASURE ISLE 1969
On The Beach Overview
The foundation of this reggae compilation was built in the studio with a strong focus on rhythm and melody. Musicians worked together to create a track base that feels both classic and fresh, making it a favorite in reggae sessions today. The arranger shaped the music with careful attention, layering instruments and guiding the flow to keep the sound lively and deep. Behind the project is the legendary producer TREASURE ISLE. Known for his major role in Jamaica’s music scene, he helped launch many careers and shaped the sound of rocksteady and early reggae. His label, Treasure Isle Records, is famous for hits in the 1960s and 1970s and has worked with some of the biggest names in reggae history. Each artist brings their own touch to the riddim. John Holt shines on "On The Beach," showing the smooth vocals that made him a reggae icon, especially known for his hit "Police in Helicopter." Johnny Clarke delivers "Let's Go On The Beach," adding his signature roots style. Lizzy appears twice with "On The Beach" and "On The Beach Version," giving the riddim a unique twist. Max Romeo, famous for "Chase the Devil," adds his voice to "On The Beach." Owen Gray, one of Jamaica’s first recording stars, also joins with his version of "On The Beach." The Paragons, known for their classic harmonies, round out the collection with their take on "On The Beach."
