MY CUP RIDDIM produced by UPSETTER 1969

    My Cup Overview

The roots instrumental behind this season’s buzz comes from the classic era of reggae, when deep bass and steady drums shaped the sound of Jamaica. The producer known as UPSETTER, also called Lee “Scratch” Perry, played a huge part in reggae’s growth. He started the Upsetter label and helped bring dub music into the spotlight, working with many of reggae’s biggest names. Bob Marley & The Wailers are featured with the song “My Cup.” Bob Marley & The Wailers became world-famous for songs like “No Woman, No Cry” and the album “Exodus,” which was named Album of the Century by Time magazine in 1999. Their music often speaks about hope, love, and unity, making them icons of roots reggae. The Upsetters, with “Version Of Cup,” add a dub twist to the riddim. The Upsetters were UPSETTER’s own studio band, known for their creative instrumentals and for helping to create the sound of dub. Their albums, like “Super Ape,” are still loved by fans around the world. Together, these tracks remind listeners of reggae’s rich history. The roots instrumental connects today’s crowds with the early days of the music. This season, the riddim is moving people again, showing that roots reggae is as powerful as ever.
