Out of the Kingston dancehall churn of 2011, Ying Riddim lands as one of those Adidjahiem sets that feels wired straight into the then-current Vybz Kartel orbit, with Popcaan, Shawn Storm, Tommy Lee and Kartel himself carrying the weight across eight cuts. The rhythm has that sharp, elastic bounce that was all over the era: tough enough for street lyrics, but with a slick, club-minded pulse that leaves room for party talk too. Popcaan’s “Tun Up Di Scheme” and Kartel’s “Go Go Dancing” are the obvious anchors here, and the fact that Kartel appears in both edit and raw versions says a lot about how these juggling projects were packaged at the time. It’s a tight snapshot of early-2010s dancehall, when one riddim could move from young gun swagger to outright scene domination in a single run.
