Volcano Riddim – Rasta Camp Records

“Volcano Riddim” rides a gritty, mid-tempo dancehall groove with enough heat to suit its name, all skittering percussion and stern bass under a stack of local voices. Rasta Camp Records lines up Despret One, Jah Door, Kenjahbi, Tabu, Sadiki I, and Black Jaguar across the cut, with the chant-heavy “Thanks N Praise” from Charma D and Adrian Jeffers’ “Coming Home” adding a more rooted, devotional edge. There’s a nice spread here between party talk, uplift, and straight-up gully swagger, so the riddim never settles into one mood for too long. Dropped in 2016, it sits right in that period when dancehall projects were still leaning on big communal juggling sets, but with a more regional, independent feel than the glossy mainstream releases of the same year.
