Tuff Riddim leans on a lean, hard-edged dancehall groove, the kind of rhythm built for sharp hooks and straight-to-the-point singjays. Billion Music Group keeps the cut tight with just five songs and an instrumental, sequencing Dane Ray’s “Nuh Trus Trus, ” J-Rile’s “Jimmy, ” Rygin King’s title track, Vershon’s “Dem Nuh Know, ” and Versi’s “High Ya Now” before closing on the “Tuff Riddim O Instrumental. ” Rygin King’s “Tuff” is the one that jumps out first, matching the riddim’s militant feel with a blunt, memorable chant, while Vershon and Dane Ray bring the streetwise edge that gives the set its shape. Released in July 2018, the project came through under Billion Music Group and 21st Hapilos Digital.
