Trouble Makers Riddim – Tylong Records

Out of Jamaica in 2015, Trouble Makers Riddim lands with that sharp, no-nonsense dancehall pulse Tylong Records had in hand for a compact five-track run. The best moments come when the voices lock into the same hard-edged groove: Aidonia’s “Si Dung Fi Di Jockey” snarls across the cut, while I-Octane and Bounty Killer turn “Double Trouble” into the kind of heavy-hitting pairing that gives the riddim its name. Mavado’s “At The Top” keeps the pressure on, and I-Octane returns solo with “Bus A Blank, ” giving the project a second jolt from one of the era’s most reliable voices. It’s a short set, but the sequencing leaves a bruise, especially around that Aidonia-to-Bounty Killer stretch.
