The Redemption Project Riddim – Nuh Rush Records

Nuh Rush Records’ The Redemption Project Riddim arrived in 2021 as a roots-heavy conscious set distributed through Tuff Gong International. The foundation is a Nyabinghi-style drum pattern, so the whole thing has that heartbeat pulse: militant, spiritual, and stripped of flash. Rather than chasing a glossy digital bounce, the production leaves room for the vocals and keeps the message front and centre.

The cast is strong across the board: Busy Signal, Lutan Fyah, Queen Ifrica, Turbulence featuring Sunny Trad, Natural Black, Tony Curtis, Nature Ellis, Gott-Yo, Don G, Kananga and Guidance. Busy Signal’s “Never Get Tired” brings a familiar lift from an artist best known as one of Jamaica’s major dancehall voices, while Lutan Fyah, a Spanish Town-rooted roots singer with a long run of conscious material, fits the riddim’s spiritual mood naturally. Queen Ifrica’s “Predator’s Paradise” is one of the key cuts, and her commanding delivery gives the project real weight. Natural Black, the Guyanese singer known for smooth, meditative reggae, also lands well with “Serious Times. ”

What ties it together is the tone: songs about endurance, fear, wickedness, prayer and survival, all riding the same austere rhythm. “Game Is Over, ” “Power Of Fear” and “Warning” keep the pressure on, while “Worship and Praise” and “Say A Prayer” push the devotional side harder. This is a 2021 roots project that plays like a statement of purpose more than a juggling designed for the dance.
