Soul Vybz usually came with sharper, more streetwise dancehall, and The Mist Riddim feels like one of those colder, moodier sets from the camp, built on a taut 78 BPM groove and a dark, rolling pulse. Busy Signal’s “Informer” and Demarco’s “Rude Boy Town” sit right in that pocket, while Anthony B brings a tougher, more roots-conscious edge on “Squeeze Off, ” which keeps the whole thing from drifting too far into pure party mode. The production credits point to Soul Vybz Music as a trio operation, with Dready, Fatta and Tarzan behind the label, and the instrumental closes things out cleanly as “The Mist Riddim, ” leaving the beat to hang in the air after the vocal cuts.
