Syntaxx Riddim – Livewyah Records

A quick spin through Syntaxx Riddim and you can hear Livewyah Records leaning into a lean, modern dancehall cut that leaves room for the voices to do the heavy lifting. Wilwa’s “DND” has that blunt, phone-off energy in the title alone, while Alex Mobsta’s “Tutor” and Ranico 197’s “Cash Talk” sound like the kind of street-level talk the riddim was made for. Shabako gets a darker lane with “Covid 19, ” and Tafari Mobsta’s “Radio Raheem” gives the set a little extra character without breaking the flow. Livewyah were busy in 2021, and this one sits right in that run of self-contained riddims from the label, with seven cuts keeping the pace tight and the mood firmly in the dancehall pocket.
