Strong Tower Riddim – Famouss Money Records

Jamaica’s 2019 dancehall run had plenty of one-riddim sets, but Strong Tower lands with a compact, no-frills seven-track lineup from Famouss Money Records, with six artists moving over the same cut and a plain instrumental closing the sequence. Bingy Linkz opens with “Money Move, ” then Black Wedda’s “Peace” and Mikey Spade’s “A Better Man” keep the subject matter grounded in survival talk and forward motion, while Taynium’s title track gives the riddim its sharpest identity. The midsection gets a little more weight with Taynium and Black Wedda teaming up on “Lead Out, ” before Zedd Uppity’s “One Time” brings the set home in clean dancehall fashion. The 100 BPM pace on “A Better Man” points to a mid-tempo groove, and the title cut ends up carrying the release with the most authority.
