Smile Riddim (2021) – Tchek LA Zik Vol.4

A warm, mid-tempo reggae swing carries the Smile Riddim, with enough bass weight and guitar shimmer to keep it moving without ever feeling rushed. The Tchek La Zik Vol. 4 set pulls in a wide French-Caribbean crew, and the strongest cuts come from the sharper voices in the pack: Typical Fefe’s “Reggae Music” sets the tone, Mc Janik’s “Ba Lè Real” and Skunky Trigga’s “Smoke It” add grit, while Jah Defender’s title track lands like the project’s mission statement. Walla Prod, Kaprisstudio and Ideal Songs front the production, with DJ Kaprisson handling the composition and mixing alongside CLEM Guy-Albert, which gives the whole thing a polished, collaborative feel. Dropping in December 2021, it sits neatly in that run of one-riddim reggae projects pushing new voices across the francophone scene.
