Skylord Riddim comes in hard with Cleva Criss setting the tone on the title cut, and that opening goes a long way toward telling you where Clevamix Recordz wanted to land this 2019 dancehall set. The eight-track lineup keeps the energy tight rather than sprawling: Clearance’s “Wtf” and Don Perry’s “Serious Bout Di Habit” push into rawer street talk, while Quantity’s “Vip” and Promisin’s “Pull up Inna Di Party” lean more toward bashment-party pressure. MyGrain’s “Easy” and Melly J’s “Fat Matic” add a looser, more chant-friendly swing, and Imagee closes it out with “Thug Love, ” giving the riddim one last rough-edged hook before the fade. But it’s Cleva Criss who anchors the whole thing, turning “Skylord” into the track that gives the project its name and its bite.
