Luciano – Get You Off My Mind

Luciano has a new single in circulation. “Get You Off My Mind” arrives in 2026, produced by Gowdie Ranks for VIS Records and Vouch Enterprise, and it keeps the veteran singer’s run of recent releases moving.

The production side is worth knowing. Gowdie Ranks — born Opal Deron Gowdie, out of Portmore — came up as a recording artist before moving behind the board, cutting singles for producers like Top Secret, Jazzy Creations and the late Bobby Digital. He now runs his own imprint, VIS Records, the letters standing for Very Important Sound. The label’s catalogue reaches back to the Bellyas Riddim in 1999 and runs through Under Jah Rock, Index Riddim in 2009, Boxer Riddim in 2020 and the Zion Way Riddim in 2022, with lineups that have pulled in Sizzla, Anthony B, Gregory Isaacs, Freddie McGregor and Mykal Rose.

This is not the first time Luciano and VIS Records have worked together either. He voiced “Never Grudge Another” on the Zion Way Riddim, a roots-leaning juggling that put him alongside Mykal Rose, Gregory Isaacs and Freddie McGregor. Gowdie has also spoken in the past about building a full album project with Luciano, so “Get You Off My Mind” reads as part of a longer working relationship rather than a one-off session.

Luciano needs no long introduction around here. Born Jepther McClymont in Davyton, Manchester, he broke through in the mid-nineties working with Philip “Fatis” Burrell at Xterminator, and the 1996 album Messenger landed him in the top ten of Billboard’s reggae albums chart. Three decades on, that voice — part rasp, part church warmth — is still one of the most recognisable in roots reggae, and he has kept releasing steadily rather than trading on the back catalogue.

The title points to lovers territory rather than the strictly conscious material he is best known for, but Luciano has always been comfortable moving between the two. Either way, a Luciano vocal on a VIS Records production is a solid pairing, and it puts the single in the long line of late-career work that keeps his message in circulation.
