Truckback Records went a little more cheeky and dance-floor direct with Sexxx Tape, a 2012 dancehall set that leaned hard into sly, explicit party talk rather than any kind of polished crossover angle. The riddim only carries nine cuts, but it’s got enough bite to keep moving, with Capleton’s “Charge” bringing his usual bark and Lady Saw turning in two sharp shots, “Mr. Short Cummings” and “No Sucker, ” that sit right in her lane. Gyptian’s “All Night” cools the temperature a bit without losing the late-night feel, while Natalie Storm’s “Mi Too Good” and Kiprich’s “Thief A f*%k” keep the whole thing rowdy and unapologetic. It was circulating by March and April of 2012, right when that kind of dancehall was still made to work the sound system first and the radio second.
