Sankie Riddim – Parry Jack Productions

Coming out of the 2010 soca crop, Sankie Riddim is a compact Parry Jack Productions set that keeps the focus tight: four tracks, three artists, and just enough room for each tune to make its point. Fireman Hooper’s “Holy Fire” opens things with the kind of bright, road-ready energy you’d expect from that era, while Jamesy P’s “Sankie Pan Dem” anchors the riddim with the sort of name-tagging hook that tends to travel well through Carnival season. Luta gets two passes at the canvas, and that’s where the project really settles into its stride, moving from the sharper-edged “Throw Bad Mind” into “Tight Spot, ” which leaves the strongest aftertaste and gives the compilation its final lift.
