Revolt Riddim (2014) – Jammin Records

Revolt Riddim comes out of Jammin’ Records’ 2014 soca run with a sharp, streetwise St. Lucian feel, the kind of riddim that rides on bouncing percussion and a quick, teasing pulse rather than big glossy polish. The lineup keeps the energy moving: Ampa’s “Gwatel” and Freezy’s “Not On Dat” set the tone early, while Mighty and Drc’s “Wibble Wobble” and the Motto cut “Bend Dong” lean into the cheekier carnival talk that suits this sound. Shit Street pops up twice, first with Mighty on “Poto” and then alongside Totti on “Bumper Low, ” which adds a little extra bite to the sequence. Subance’s “Chiney Wine” and Zuky’s “Like Dat” close it out with the same fast-footed pressure, and the instrumental underneath keeps the whole thing locked in tight.
