Peng Riddim comes in lean and punchy, with just seven cuts and Beenie Man fronting the whole thing on “24 Hours. ” X Cobar Records keeps the swing tight and dancefloor-ready, the kind of 2013 dancehall shuffle that leaves room for voices like Vershon and Sahie to cut through without crowding the groove. Beenie Man’s veteran ease gives the set its pull, while Vershon’s “Wat A Night” sits nicely against the brighter party vibe running through the other tunes, especially “Party Hard” and “Party Party. ” It’s a compact little blast of a riddim, right down to the version at the end.
