Party Time Riddim – Roots Pool

Roots Pool’s Party Time Riddim doesn’t go after the glossy late-80s dancehall rush you might expect; it stays close to a lean, rootsy groove with enough forward motion to keep the cuts moving. Recorded in 1986, it pairs Johnny P’s earthy “Earth Tradition” with Sugar Minott’s smooth “I Love You, ” and that contrast between DJ edge and singer sweetness is where the riddim really clicks. Teddy Brown’s “Walk On By” keeps the mood melodic, while Trevor Junior’s “Wicked Man” closes it out with the toughest attack on the set.
