Panty Droppa Riddim – Fryktion Muzik

Out of St. Vincent’s 2010 soca scene, Panty Droppa Riddim feels like one of those cheeky, high-energy packages built for fete season, with Fryktion Muzik lining up a compact seven-track set that runs from Crossovah’s “Plenty Girls” to Ricardo Drue’s “Like Glue” and Nadia Batson’s sly “Silent Freak. ” Ms Paige’s “De Panty Droppa” gives the whole thing its title-track center of gravity, and the project plays nicely with the rest of the cast, especially when Gideon James and Icon keep the mood buoyant on “Feel Good. ” Fryktion Muzik closes it out with a medley, which feels like a small afterthought but also a neat nod to how these early-2010s Vincy soca releases liked to package the road-ready energy in one place.
