Paid Back Riddim – Topchef Records

By the time Paid Back Riddim surfaced in mid-2021, Topchef Records had stitched together a compact six-cut set that moves between straight dancehall and the more melodic reggae-dancehall corner of the sound. Chronic Law’s “Gyal Anthem” sets the tone with its tougher edge, while Skye Diamond’s “Dem Nuh Real” and Bahna Muzeq’s “Beautiful Girls” pull the riddim into smoother territory without softening it too much. Hxtra Rdi’s “Jealousy” and Bellumn’s “Own Hero” keep the balance leaning back and forth, but the final word lands on Tenno Tenno’s “Chedda Chedda, ” which gives the project its hardest dancehall finish and leaves the beat feeling properly road-ready.
