One Touch Riddim (2021) – Jamcore Productions

Out of Trinidad’s 2021 soca season came One Touch Riddim, a tight five-cut Jamcore Productions set that keeps the focus on melodic chanting and forward motion rather than big carnival bombast. Beat-ON’s title track, Christian Massive’s “Fall Down, ” B. A. ’s “Marching On, ” and Emrand Henry’s “Shift the Atmosphere” all ride the same brisk, percussive groove, with Henry’s cut leaning a little more uplifted and devotional than the others. Jamcore had already been moving through riddim work in that period, and this one sits neatly alongside their earlier 2020 and 2021 projects, but with a lighter soca feel that leaves room for the voices to do the lifting. The instrumental closes it out cleanly, which fits a label catalogue that seems happy to keep things lean, dance-ready, and made for the road.
