The dancehall youth have a fresh banger to rave about from fans’ favorite Skeng titled Fever. And yes it has the same name as Vybz Kartel’s 2016 summer hit, off his King of Dancehall album. To be fair having listened to Skeng’s cut it does not compare to Kartel’s hit and it’s rather unfortunate that Skeng decided to name it that and then have to deal with the unnecessary comparisons.
The track was produced as a collaboration of Guyana-founded Slingerz Records, Topalone, and Di Truth Records. Released last Tuesday 27 June 2023, and accompanied by an official video Fever has racked up 590K views on YouTube and is accompanied by a Vlog of the behind-the-scenes shooting of the video to give fans an inside view of the artiste’s creative process.
As the title suggests, the track is about the summertime fever of the debaucherous lifestyle and the music video depicts the usual stuff with skimpily dressed women gyrating all over the place and Skeng living it up.
“Get ready to turn up the volume and let the fever take hold.” Said Skeng when asked to comment on the track. With its dynamic production, infectious melodies, and the creative synergy between Skeng and his team of talented producers, the song is destined to make waves in the music industry. As the Caribbean summer continues to heat up this one is for the party vibes.
Skeng continues to drop bangers which will no doubt grow his fanbase. Having Nicki Minaj sample his Likkle Miss song in 2022 and featuring on her Red Ruby Da Sleeze music video shot in Trinidad & Tobago this year. Skeng’s fanbase numbers must be rising, riding on the international rapper’s network.
When you hear Fever, try and keep Vybz Kartel’s track out of your head and enjoy the rising stars track. Dancehall continues to evolve and get to enjoy Skeng’s take on the summer.
