It’s not summer in the Caribbean without a Sean Paul classic and Dutty Rock Productions have served up not just a banger but a riddim to match. Summa Hot Riddim comes fresh from the label with Sean Paul headlining alongside Chi Ching Ching. The title track Summa Hot was released on 28 July 2023 along with Chi Ching Ching’s Ova Tek.
The rhythm is a festive party-vibes tune set to rock. With a Bollywood melody and dance drums the infectious beat is as catchy as they come and sets the tone for what may be a classic riddim. It’s touch and go which is the better track between Ova Tek and Summa Hot, however, both artists lace it with unforgettable bars and I will reserve my opinion of which I prefer. I guess time will tell as to which song has better vibes but it’s for indulging yourself with one of dancehall’s greats.
Sean Paul has been busy as ever in 2023. His last single featured another legend Beres Hammond on Rebel Time. Also produced by his label Dutty Rock Productions, the track was received well by the reggae community as both legends rewound the hands of time.
Another single worth mentioning was alongside Charly Black. This time on a dancehall tip, the legend showcased how he can still rock with the younger generation in Gyal Generals. With a fitting name, the pair represent the dancehall flag as generals of the genre in another summer banger.
Sean Paul continues to deliver and it’s for getting stuck into Summa Hot Riddim. Showing no signs of fading we salute you Sean Paul. A true legend in the Caribbean and we look forward to many more summer specials from him.
