In 2007, when reggae singers were still leaning hard on clean digital rhythms and compact three-track voicings, Moonlight Riddim arrived as a small but focused set with Chucky, Fireball and Richard Trumpet each taking a turn over the same easy rolling cut. Chucky’s To The One I Love carries the sweetest hook in the bunch, while Fireball’s Some Lies and Richard Trumpet’s If You Want It keep the mood more conversational, riding a mellow groove with enough bounce in the bass and drums to keep the session moving. The release is cut down to four tracks in total, ending with a straight version of the riddim itself, which keeps the whole thing tight and to the point.
