A tight seven-track soca set, Melanin Riddim lines up Au Rellie, Fadda Fox, Janet Azzouz, Starsha, V’ghn and Valene Nedd around Dada Music’s own instrumental, and the whole thing landed on October 6, 2017 as a 23-minute release. The songs sit in that brisk, road-ready soca pocket, with a clean, driving pulse and room for each singer to work a different angle on the same rhythm. Fadda Fox’s “Good Ole Days” and V’ghn’s “Do Me” keep the energy moving, while Janet Azzouz’s “Give Me a Little Soca” leans straight into the Carnival pull of the riddim. Dada Music keeps the arrangement lean rather than crowded, letting the kick and bass carry most of the weight and leaving the vocals to ride the groove at around 119 BPM, which gives the project its quick, forward push.
