Out of Jamaica’s fast-moving 2021 dancehall batch, Mark X Riddim arrives with a lean, street-level edge from Ghetto Life Records, and the whole thing feels geared toward the kind of raw, coded energy younger artistes were pushing at the time. The voicings keep to that lane too: Alkyda’s “Ghetto Youth” and Essae Jv’s “Born Great” lean into uplift and struggle, while Jovaine and 9 Tek turn “Fresh Addict” into the set’s flashier crossover moment.
